Our story so far

The “concern over her blood pressure” wound up being preeclampsia. That kicked her from the regular OB team back to the high-risk side of the house. Now they’re the ones monitoring her and making the calls. Everyone is exchanging text messages individually and in this big group text. Since we weren’t allowed at the hospital outside the waiting room (labor and delivery there has some very strict visitation rules), everyone was stay home. Then it got quiet, and Daughter and Son-In-Law weren’t answering texts.

Mrs. Freeholder started getting worried. I was a bit concerned as well. But I told her that either they were getting some much-needed rest or there was a c-section in progress.

No s##t, there I was, 5 minutes later with a text apologizing for ignoring us, but…c-section for the win.

This is how the pregnancy was announced. What can I say, Daughter is definitely my kid.

The girl, now known as Thing 1, was born first and weighed 7 lbs 12 oz. The boy, Thing 2, was 7 lbs 14 oz. This is under the predicted 8 1/2-9 lbs weight. I suppose that’s why it’s called “practicing medicine”. 🙂

Everyone is healthy, if tired. Hopefully, Daughter has no long-term effects from the preeclampsia, but that’s to be seen.

We’re planning on leaving shortly for our first visit, if the adults are awake. We’ll finally get their real names, too. No, they won’t tell us any other way but in person. The adventure continues.
