Do not thank me

Not today, unless you want a lecture. I’m in no mood for it. You want to thank me for my short, uneventful, undistinguished service, wait until November. In the meantime, go to your nearest national cemetery and thank them. Then read this just so you get some tiny insight into what this day is about for the families.

Then thank God that these men, and now women, lived.

  1. Well said. I really dislike the commercialism and the general lack of knowledge about this “holiday”. All of us owe them a debt that cannot be paid.
