A lie or “situational ethics”

I was looking on the web for something else entirely and ran across a great opinion piece in the Illinois Leader by Joyce Morrison. It’s titled “Situational ethics” – lies that sound nice.

Tidbits:

If something was a lie, it was called a lie. Now we call it “situational ethics.”

In election years, we hear a lot of “situational ethics.”

The ethics of today permits you to tell the story to fit your situation regardless if it is the whole truth and in spite of its potential impact on someone else.

I wonder if Hanoi John Kerry is listening?

Read the whole thing. For that matter, look over the entire site. There’s some interesting (and infuriating) things happening out in “fly-over country”.
