Not a Grand (Maunder) Minimum?

If you aren’t a subscriber of the SpaceWeather.com email newsletter, give it a shot. Many interesting and often beautiful things come through on it.

Today’s was on the interesting side. You may have heard speculation that we are entering a Grand  Minimum, a period of time when the sun’s activity slows, it’s output is less and Bad Things happen because of it. You know, things like the Little Ice Age. Maybe.

Today’s SpaceWeather note is on the current solar minimum and the effects it would have on interplanetary space travel. They also note the current minimum is not a Grand Minimum, but more closely resembles a Dalton Minimum.

There is a very good Wikipedia entry on solar cycles. I’ve got to go back and read it all. See ya later.
