A 1 minute fix for point for aim vs. point of impact

It’s embarrassing to admit, but I’ve had a problem with my pistol shooting pretty much since I picked one up–I’m consistently 1-2″ down and left. It made no difference what pistol I shot, so that eliminated a specific gun. I and others, including a couple of professional trainers, dinked with my grip and other factors with my shooting, also to no avail. I was down and left. It was hypothesized that I was anticipating recoil, jerking the trigger, closing my eyes–something. The only solution seemed to be Kentucky windage–aim 1-2″ up and right, which I got pretty good at. It was an inelegant solution, but it worked, and I just got used to it.

Somewhere, and I wish I remembered where because I’d love to give them credit, this video was mentioned.

1 minute and 5 seconds of NSFW video instruction has fixed me. I finally got to the range yesterday to test this out, and I’m now able to chew up the center of a target by actually aiming at the center of the target. All because I’m putting more of my finger on the trigger. Why no one thought of this before, I don’t know. I guess we’re all conditioned to putting that pad of the first joint of the finger on there and off we go.  I have to get it back to the joint, more like I’m shooting a revolver.

Sometimes it’s the little things that trip you up, or the things that “everybody knows”.
