Socialist progress in Venezuela

Once upon a time, I took one of those 3 day, crack your skull open and pour it in, computer classes that are all my employer would consider under the laughable term of “training”. One particularly good one was taught by a fellow who spent 6 months of the year in the US, teaching and doing the odd consulting gig. He spent the other 6 months of the year in Venezuela, which was the home of his wife. He extolled the virtues of the place–cost of living, friendly people, and a stable government. I often wondered what he made of the rise of Chavez, but as I have lost touch with him, I’ve never been able to ask.

I wonder if they still spend their yearly 6 months there, in the house on the coast he showed me pictures of. Because if they do, it’s going to get hungry.
