Here we go again

I spent November 3, 2026, the way I’ve spent every election for several cycles–working at a polling place, helping my neighbors exercise their right to vote. As always, it was interesting.

I live in one of the Reddest counties in North Carolina and likely in the country. All Republican candidates and three Republican-supported NC Constitutional amendments passed. Obviously, most of the rest of the country wasn’t able to recall that, no matter how bad things might seem, Trump and the actual Republicans are still better than President Kamala Harris. The Stupid Party has once again squandered a golden opportunity, possibly for the last time.

In six months, it’ll be welcome to (the Former) Great Britain or any given country in the EU. If it doesn’t happen, it won’t be for a lack of Democrat trying. I don’t expect a Great Republican Comeback in 2028, but we might get lucky.

If you’ve paid attention, you knew this was coming. I hope you’ve used the last 2 years to work on your preparedness. If you haven’t, anything you can do will be better than nothing. Get to it.
