It’s hard to imagine, especially for someone who grew up with a Dad who was a veteran of the war in Europe, that it’s 80 years on from D-Day, but it is. An 18-year-old kid who hit a beach at Normandy would be 97-98 years old now. As you might expect, there are only a few left. If you happen to know one or happen to meet one, give them a big “Thank You”. It doesn’t matter if it’s today or some other day. That’s the least they deserve.
D-Day + 80 years

My uncle was in the 82nd airborne division and parachuted into France before the invasion. I never talked to him about it, but wish I had. He died in 1980 and so I’ll never know the whole story.
