This year, as we seem to be sitting on the brink of something dire happening in the world, I have to wonder what those men, who stepped off of landing craft into a hail of fire, would make of our situation. There are still a few of them out there, but the last WWII vet I knew has been gone for some time now, so I can’t really ask. I imagine their reactions would be just like ours-anger, shock, revulsion, fear.
We’re in one hell of a situation on this 78th anniversary of D-Day. Will we be around to ruminate on the subject on the 79th?
