Killdozer Day

Today is the day to remember a man who decided that government had went too far and chose to exact a price for that, even at the cost of his own life. It’s Killdozer Day.

I’m aware that there are a lot of people out there who will think that this post makes me a “conspiracy nut” or worse yet, the dread “domestic terrorist”. No, what it makes me is someone who knows that government can and all too often does abuse its power, at that it is rarely held accountable for its actions. You can’t sue the government unless it allows you too. Its various officials and officers are immune to suit under the doctrine of “qualified immunity“. If government screws you over, well, they don’t care. They don’t have to.

Occasionally, someone pushes back. Maybe it’s in some small way, or in the case of Marvin Heemeyer, a big way. Still, I think it’s notable that he chose a method that allowed the actual people in his path to escape as he took out his rage against the government machine and its crony capitalist allies.

For those of you who have never lived in a small town, small town politics are far dirtier than anything we’ve seen nationally until the 2020 election. It’s one of the big drawbacks of a small town.

Make of the story what you will. Just don’t forget it.

  1. An acquaintance was a Grand County deputy on scene. He admits to feeling helpless. There was a picture of him trying to climb on the dozer which was even ore difficult because portions of it was covered in grease.

You are correct about small town dirty politics. Add rural county politics to that, especially judges and district attorneys.
