A more cogent take on our current situation is going to difficult to find.
Once upon a time I wrote a very bad novel that was serialized on an Internet site that I no longer frequent. It was to be the first in a series following a group of people, surviving an economic collapse, who discovered that the path to their survival was to reopen and rebuild a local college that had closed many years previous. In effect, they were going to act like the monasteries of the Medieval Period, preserving knowledge and teaching it to any who were interested.
Maybe I need to drag that back out, edit the hell out of it and publish it here. It would take time, but it might be one of the few things left that I can do that would, maybe, help others at this later date.
(Edit: Early oopsie of not having a title corrected.)
