John Mauldin is one of the most interesting economics writers today, if for no other reason than he knows all the other interesting economics writers. Yesterday my inbox was graced with one of his “Outside the Box” missives, this one with Neil Howe. That name might be familiar to you from his book (written with co-author William Strauss) The Fourth Turning. In this Outside the Box Howe is discussing why economists have been getting their predictions so wrong the last few years and making his own predictions for 2016. Very interesting if you’re familiar with his Fourth Turning ideas, still interesting if you aren’t. Also rather depressing if you’re running up on what is starting to laughing be known as “retirement age”. Oh well, to paraphrase an old military saying, “You can retire when you’re dead.”
