Remember a few years ago, when states, counties and municipalities where in budget trouble? Remember what they did? Rather than cutting the fat, they cut popular programs–libraries, cops, pot hole repair–all in a cynical bid to get the taxpayers to cough it up so they didn’t have to do without.
The Pentagon can play that game big time.
I’m all for a strong national defense, but this is bullshit. Cutting military pay? Delaying maintenance? How about getting rid of some generals and admirals? How about bringing back the troops still in Europe and let Europe do it’s own defending for a change?
Or maybe the hippies were right, and they should try a bake sale.
