A treasure trove of gold and silver jewelry, coins and precious stones said to be worth billions of dollars has been found in aHindu templein southern India, officials said on Saturday.

It seems that the followers of the Hindu god Vishnu have been very, very generous with their offerings for several hundred years. They’ve been so generous, the Indian government no longer trusts the family who have been in charge of the temple since it was built some “hundreds of years ago”.

“Now it?s known all over the world that the Padmanabhaswamy temple has jewels worth billions of rupees we have decided to assign it maximum security,” Kerala Chief MinisterOommen Chandytold AFP.

Uh, yeah. Right. Sure. Anyone care to guess how much of that treasure, which I would suspect is undocumented, disappears under that “maximum security? I suspect a number of somebodies are going to get rich off of this.

It isn’t just here in the US–the looters are everywhere.
