Is this the health care you want?

So yesterday, I went on a little rant about the hoopla over the death of Ted Kennedy. One of the things that really jerked my chain about the whole thing is the statists’ plan to reanimate the corpse rename their latest health care “reform” bill in a pathetic attempt to win via the sympathy vote.

Well, this is the health care they want us to have via that bill. Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, health adviser to the Enlightened One, believes that “doctors should serve two masters, the patient and society, and that medical students should be trained ‘to provide socially sustainable, cost-effective care.'” He continues in this vein, arguing

… that to make such decisions, the focus cannot be only on the worth of the individual. He proposes adding the communitarian perspective to ensure that medical resources will be allocated in a way that keeps society going: “Substantively, it suggests services that promote the continuation of the polity—those that ensure healthy future generations, ensure development of practical reasoning skills, and ensure full and active participation by citizens in public deliberations—are to be socially guaranteed as basic. Covering services provided to individuals who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens are not basic, and should not be guaranteed. An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia.”

Hell, by that definition poor old Ted would have been sent out on the ice floe as soon as the diagnoses was delivered. “Sorry, Teddy old boy, you’ve been a stalwart liberal but you aren’t going to be able to continue in the polity much longer, so no medical care for you.”

This man is proposing the death boards we’re being warned about. I don’t know what else they can be called, when the literally have the power to order the withdrawal of medical care that is prolonging life without considering the wishes of the patient. Ezekiel Emanuel is dangerous, and he has the ear of the Amateur in Chief. I suspect he has had a hand in one if not all bill being seriously considered.

I also suspect he learned his medical ethics from another prominent doctor in far left circles–Josef Mengele.
