In light of Saturday’s festivities, this New York Times article on the role of hunches in survival seems particularly interesting. I learned a long time ago to trust my gut, because it rarely gets things wrong. Saturday, even though nothing obviously threatening was going on, every alarm bell I have was going off. I can’t tell you why, but they were, and I took action based on that.
While there’s no way of telling if anything “bad” was stopped, I’m not bothered by the fact that I took action. I trust my gut, and every time I second guess it, I wind up regretting that decision.
