This is sort of scarey and creepifying:
Army Regulation 210-25: Civilian Inmate Labor Program
Now before we all hike off down Conspiracy Theory Lane, we should note that this seems to be a policy to allow the use of Federal prison inmates to perform certain sorts of menial labor tasks for the US Army on a no-cost basis. This is nothing new; many Federal agencies do the same thing, and I know that here in North Carolina, a similar plan exists that uses state inmates to do things like lawn mowing and trash pickup.
Where I get worried is when you add this to the “temporary detention centers” I blogged about in this entry.
Maybe I’m just seeing things under the bed, but the more I find out about my government, the less comfortable I am with it.
